Holiday Stamps on the Clearance Rack

Stampin’ Up! is adding stamps to the clearance rack!! This is an unprecedented event. Stamps have been on the retiring sale, but never offered as clearance items.  I was on the fence about the So Santa set, but now I have to have  it - it would be perfect for making cards with this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit! Which set will you add to your order?

You Can Stamp the Wood Butterfly Elements!

Did you know you can stamp and sponge on the wood butterfly elements?

I inked my stamp with Blackberry Bliss and then placed the butterfly on the stamp. I left it on for several seconds so the wood could absorb the ink. After that I sponged Highland Heather over the stamped image. I think darker colors would show up best.

This gives so many more options for using the butterflies!

Best of all, this card features three free Sale-A-Bration gifts - the Butterfly Elements, the Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack, and the gorgeous Botanical Butterfly designer series paper. These are my favorite SAB items!

Happy Stamping!

January Simple Stamping Challenge

January Simple Stamping Challenge

Stampin’ Up! is getting back to the heart of stamping by challenging us to create simple cards using mainly paper, ink and stamps. Each month there will be a challenge with specific guidelines to follow.  January’s challenge is to make a Valentine’s card using only paper, ink, and stamps.  A punch may be used, but it isn’t necessary.

I am going to be perfectly honest, while I love the look of simple clean cards, the idea of making is difficult for me. When I see all the supplies Stampin’ Up! carries, my mind starts spinning with ideas to use the pretty papers, embellishments and ribbon.  I rarely if ever see a stamp set and think to use only a stamped image on a card.

So, I cleared off my workspace, got out the Meant To Be stamp set and chose Flirty Flamingo, Lovely Lipstick and Petal Pink inks.  I love to make my own DSP so I took the three smallest heart stamps and they made a sweet fun patterned paper for my card. The card came together quickly and I was pleasantly surprised that I could make a cute card without a lot of fuss!

Now I challenge you to participate in the January #simplestamping challenge!  I would love to see what you make so message me a with a photo of your simple Valentine’s card!!

Happy Stamping!

Card Recipe

Cut List:
  • Flirty Flamingo - 8.5” x 5.5”, scored at 4.25” in the 8.5” side; 2” x 3” for sentiment
  • Whisper White - 4” x 5.25”
  • Lovely Lipstick - .5” x 5.25”

Stamping:

Starting with the largest of the 3, randomly stamp the heart on the Whisper White card front. Be sure to angle the heart in different directions and stamp some off the edge of the card front. This will give an organic look. To keep spacing between the images looking right, start with the largest image first and work down to the smallest. I used Flirty Flamingo for the largest heart - I love the striped detail of this heart! Using Lovely Lipstick ink, I followed the same process to stamp the heart with the doodles. I used Petal Pink to stamp the smallest heart. I stamped the sentiment in Lovely Lipstick on the 2 x 3 Flirty Flamingo cardstock and then punched that out using the Pretty Label Punch. I added a heart in Flirty Flamingo on each side of the sentiment to finish the sentiment label.

Assembly:

Adhere the .5 x 5.25 strip of Lovely Lipstick so that it divides the stamped card front in half horizontally.  Adhere the sentiment centered on the Lovely Lip Stick strip.  And you are done!
