Looking ahead to 2022, I want to start a journal to record joy, beauty and gratitude. The Catching Butterflies stamp set in the new Sale-A-Bration brochure captures joy perfectly! As soon as I saw it I knew that I wanted to use it for the cover of my journal. The whimsy of image pairs perfectly with the beauty of the Flowering Fields DSP.

I purchase inexpensive journals online that have heavy kraft card stock covers that I can alter. Usually I do not make a closure, but this time I decided that I would use a belly band. This will allow me to add pictures or items to the pages and keep the journal closed.

My favorite size journal is A5 (5 1/2” x 8 1/4”) and this size can be covered with a single sheet of DSP. I cut a strip of DSP to 5 1/2” x 12” and use this to cover the journal. When I adhere the DSP to the cover, I align the strip flush with the front cover, then trim the excess in case the cover is slightly wider than the pages.

To make the belly band, I used a strip of the polka got DSP that measures 3 1/2” x 12” and layered this with the tulip pattern cutting it to 2 1/2” x 12”. I centered the tulip strip over the polka dot strip and adhered it using liquid glue. Rather than scoring exact fold lives for the belly band, I wrapped the strip around the journal and glued the edges where they over lapped. I did not pull the band too tightly as I wanted the band to be easy to slip off and also have it allow some room to add items in the journal. They overlapped about 1/4”, which worked great and meant there was no need to piece anything together.

Most of my craft supplies are packed up right now because we are in the process of some major home repairs. I was scrambling to find my Momento ink pad, but it is was not to be found. Not to be discouraged, I decided to use a Basic Gray Stampin’ Write marker to “stamp” the girl. I actually like how this turned out. It was much softer than the black ink and yet defined enough to keep the integrity of the image style.

I colored the little girl’s dress using Light and Dark Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends. Her hair is colored with Light Soft Suede and Dark and Light So Saffron Blends. I wanted her eyes to have a little color so I used the writing tip of the Soft Succulent Stampin’ Write Marker to giver her green eyes. I also used the Polished Pink maker to give her smile a little color. I think she turned out cute! I fussy cut around her leaving a wider border than normal. Then I glued this to a piece of Flirty Flamingo card stock from my scrap pile and cut a thin border around the image to make it pop. I attached the image to the belly band using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the sentiment in Flirty Flamingo and used the Label Me Lovely Punch to create my journal title. The sentiment was too small for the size of the label, so I used the trick below to make the label shape smaller. This punch is one of my favorites because it is so versatile!

The new Brushed Brass Butterflies are gorgeous! The sheen is amazing. While I love the brass finish, I wanted the butterflies to match the girls dress and the tulips. To do this, I used the Dark Flirty Flamingo to color the butterflies and it worked! The color has a lovely metallic look and I cannot wait to color more!

You can get the fun Chasing Butterflies stamp set for free with a $50 product purchase beginning January 4th, while supplies last. The new Flowering Fields DSP and Brushed Brass Butterflies will also be available for purchase on January 4th. If you do not have a demonstrator that you shop with, fill out this catalog request form, and I will send you a catalog and brochure.

L2SG Blog Hop November 2021

Welcome to the Luv 2 Stamp Group’s 2021 Blog Hop! We are excited to share projects with you this year, we hope to inspire you to create beautiful new projects. Each month we will have a different theme based on the next month’s celebrations using Stampin’ Up! products.

Confession time - I haven’t done my Christmas cards yet! I had wonderful plans to make unique cards for several of the recipients on my list, but time got away from me. New plan is a simple layout that can easily be mass produced and will work with any Christmas DSP I have on hand.

I created a standard card base with layered cardstock and DSP. I die cut two circles from cardstock that coordinates with the DSP and offset these in the lower right corner of the card.  Then I mimicked this look with the sentiment by cutting two half inch strips of the card stock to layer in the upper left corner of the card.

The focal point needed to be something quick and easy so I used the deer punch and the lovely Snowy White specialty paper. Add a little bling and it is all done!

Luv2Stamp Blog Hop September 2021

Welcome to the Luv 2 Stamp Group’s 2021 Blog Hop! We are excited to share projects with you this year, we hope to inspire you to create beautiful new projects. Each month we will have a different theme based on the next month’s celebrations using Stampin’ Up! products.

The best part of Halloween is getting together with friends for tricks and treats.  The same is true for stamping!! I recently visited by friend Leticia, aka DIY Diva, for a day of treats and swapping stamping tricks. Ever notice how your creativity flows when you get together with others? This happens every time she and I stamp together.  Be sure to follow her – you will definitely be inspired.

She was the inspiration behind the card I am sharing today. In my usual way, I forgot to bring something.  This time it was colored cardstock. Leticia has bunches of card bases pre-made and some are even in a different fold. She handed me three bases and challenged me to create a card with one. I accepted the challenge!

Here are some basic instructions to recreate the card:

Supplies:
  • Festive & Bright Bundle
  • Label Me Lovely Punch
  • Everyday Label Punch
  • Gray Granite Card Base – 5 ½” x 7 ¾”, scored on the 7 ¾” side at 1 ¾” and 6”
  • Basic White Cardstock – 4” x 6” (for stamping and die cutting), 4” x 5 ¼” insert
  • Rich Razzleberry Cardstock – 3” x 3”
  • Patterned Party Host DSP – 2 pieces Black with white dots cut at 1 ½” x 5 ¼”
  • Cute Halloween DSP – Strip of Orange and Black stripe cut at 3” x 2”
  • Scrap of Vellum Cardstock
  • Stampin’ Blends – Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, So Saffron, Crumb Cake
  • Tuxedo Black Momento Ink
  • Pumpkin Pie Ink
Stamping & Coloring:
  • Stamp two of the Halloween border images in Momento ink, leaving about half an inch or so between the images so you can die cut them
  • Stamp the word Spooky in Pumpkin Pie ink
  • Color one border using the blends listed or choose your own colors and color a broom and hat image from the other border
  • Die cut the two border strips and the sentiment

  • Fussy cut the hat and boom from the second border piece
Assembly:
  • Fold card base so the flaps on either side fold to the middle as you would for a gate fold (this will leave a ¾” gap)
  • Adhere insert to inside of card base
  • Adhere the black and white dotted DSP strips to outer side of each flap
  • Adhere the fully colored border to the inside edge of the right flap
  • Die cut two ghosts in vellum using the dies in the bundle
  • Use the Label Me Lovely punch to punch a label die from Rich Razzle Berry

  • Use the Every Day Label punch to punch a label from the orange and black striped DSP
  • Adhere only the left edge of the black and orange striped label to the left flap of the card, making sure to center the label
  • Center and addhere Rich Razzleberry label to over the striped label
  • Use Dimensionals to pop up the Spooky sentiment centering it over the layered labels
  • Attach vellum ghosts to the label as shown
  • Adhere fussy cut hat and broom image to left side of Spooky sentiment

I love layering label punches to create emphasis on the sentiment or image on a card. I love how that you can cut the border die apart to create accents for the card and it worked perfectly for the layers! The only thing I would change is to use Basic White Cardstock for the ghosts since I was not able to attach them without the adhesive showing.

Luv2Stamp Group May Blog Hop

What's New

Welcome to the Luv 2 Stamp Group’s 2021 Blog Hop! We are excited to share projects with you this year, we hope to inspire you to create beautiful new projects. Each month we will have a different theme based on the next month’s celebrations using Stampin’ Up! products.

The Pansy Petals suite is my favorite collection in the new catalog. I am partial to pansies and this DSP, stamp set and dies are truly amazing!! Having the Pansy Petals bundle offers so much versatility creating lovely pansies.

The stamp set is Distinktive which creates realistic pansy images easily. I love that the layering stamps off so many options to create wonderful color combos.

I highly recommend cutting a 2” strip of Basic White cardstock and playing with different color combos. Remember to stamp the larger image first choosing a lighter color and then layer with darker colors. Don’t forget to add in some stems and leaves too!

TIP: If your ink pad is too juicy, your image may not have as much detail. To fix this, you can take a bone folder, spoon or butter knife and push the ink from the center of the pad to the edges. I find that this works better than stamping off.

Now that you have a bunch of pansies and leaves stamped and cut, grab some of the gorgeous DSP, 2021-2023 In-color cardstock and create a bunch of beautiful cards! I love having the pre-stamped and cut images ready to go. I can sit down later and make a few cards quickly. It’s so fun and relaxing matching the pansy pieces to the patterns in the DSP.

Luv 2 Stamp Group’s 2021-2022 Annual Catalog Inspiration Hop

Pansy Petals Gift Card Holder

Welcome to the Luv 2 Stamp Group’s 2021-2022 Annual Catalog Inspiration Hop. We are so happy you are hopping along with us. The demonstrators participating in this Blog Hop were presenters at our new Stampin’ Up! catalog kickoff event for our team. We wanted to make sure to share these beautiful projects with you all as well. We hope you gain new  tips, techniques, and of course tons of inspiration. Once you are done with each post, don’t forget to keep hopping along by clicking on the next name in the list.

Pansies are one of my favorite flowers. With the shape of the flower and the bright cheery colors, they look like little happy flower faces!  I knew as soon as I saw the catalog that I had to have the Pansy Petals Suite.  I also know that I wanted to use vellum to make some pansies. I think that the sheer look of vellum lends itself to the delicate petals of a pansy. When I saw that there was shimmer vellum in the new In Colors, well, I had to have that too. Not only was I excited about the vellum with a shimmer finish, but Ombre glimmer paper. I was a happy happy girl!  When Patty Bennett asked me to present for our tram event, I know exactly what I wanted to make. This is a card design that I have done before and it was inspired by Amanda Charlesworth, aka Scrimping Mommy, a demonstrator in the UK.  Check out her tutorial here.

The Pansy Dies are amazing!! There are so many combinations when layering the pieces.  The embossed detail is so life like.  The color combos are endless!!

Luv 2 Stamp Group Blog Hop April 2021

Teacher Appreciation

Welcome to the Luv 2 Stamp Group’s 2021 Blog Hop! We are excited to share projects with you this year, we hope to inspire you to create beautiful new projects. Each month we will have a different theme based on the next month’s celebrations using Stampin’ Up! products.

Once you are done with each post, scroll down to the bottom and you will see a list of Blog Hop participants, you can click on their name to go to their post, or you can click the next button to go to the next post in line. Happy crafting! This month’s theme is Teacher Appreciation.

I had a lot of great teachers growing up. There was one in particular who is my favorite, Mrs. Hupe, my high school English teacher. She was dedicated to instilling a love of learning in each of her students. One of the classes that she taught was College Prep English. This class was designed to help students develop their writing skills and be prepared for the SATs and entrance essays. On the very first day of class, she told us what the while the class focus was to make us better writers, her goal was to make us lifelong students. She told us that college should not be the end of our education and that to live a full and interesting life, we should seek to learn new things every day. She taught us by example and often times she would end a lesson early to share something she had recently learned or ask one us to share what we learned recently. I am sure that each of you have a favorite teacher and they inspired you too.

For my card, I wanted to have a pencil and paper as the main focus of the card. Mrs. Hupe challenged me to explore writing and to journal. Here is a quick look at the steps I used to create the card.
1. Using the Harvest Hellos stamp set with Tuxedo Black Momento ink, stamp the apple onto a 2 ½” x 2 ½” piece of Real Red cardstock, stamp the stem on a scrap of Soft Suede, and stamp the leaf on a scrap of Old Olive. Use the Apple Builder Punch to punch out the shapes.

2. Using the largest die in the Stitched Nested Labels dies, cut the label from a 3 ½” x 5 ½” piece of Crumb Cake cardstock.

3. Cut a second label from a 3 ½” x 5 ½” piece of Bumblebee cardstock. Then use the scalloped border die from the Budding Blooms dies.

4. Cut a third label from a 3 1/1” x 5 ½” Basic Black piece of cardstock. Use the leaf portion of the Apple Builder punch to create the lead for the pencil.

5. Cut a strip if Silver Foil paper 1 ½” x 3” and use the Simply Scored board to make 1/8” score marks to form the metal strip at the top of a pencil. Then cut a strip of the new Polished Pink cardstock that measures ¾” x 3” to form the eraser. Note - once the pencil is assembled, trim the eraser and metal band to the width of the pencil.

6. Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”. To create the look of a piece of paper, use the Rococo Rose Stampin’ Write Marker and a ruler to draw two vertical lines about half an inch from the left side of the paper to form the margin lines. Then use the Seaside Spray Stampin’ Write Marker and a ruler to create the lines on the paper.

7. Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to assemble the pencil and apple.
8. Create a card base from a piece of Thick Basic White cardstock, 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.
9. Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the sheet of writing paper to the card front.
10. Use Dimensionals to pop the pencil and apple up on the card front.
11. Embellish with Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Many of the products that I used are retiring and some are on sale too!  You can shop the list below to get yours before they are gone!
