Pleased As Punch Spring Sampler

My favorite part of being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is the friendships I have made and the fun that comes with creative collaboration.

I am part of a large group of demonstrators under the leadership of Patty Bennett (I am in awe of her $2 million dollars in sales).  Our team is aptly called the Luv2Stamp group.  When I joined a little over two years ago, I was welcomed into the group by Patty and several other demos from across the country. We have a Facebook group where we share ideas, offer encouragement, and celebrate our successes. The kindness and generosity of this group amazes me.

I quickly became friends with one of our team members Leticia Hernandez, aka DIYDiva, and started crafting with her virtually via Facebook Messenger.  We hit it off quite well!  She and I had an amazing road trip to OnStage in Salt Lake City last year. Since then we have gotten together in person or via the web to collaborate on projects. When the pre-order for the Product Coordination Release was announced we decided to make a sampler using the Pleased As Punch DSP.

Leticia shared her sampler at our next team meeting and before you know it, we had a group of demonstrators asking us to do a class for the sampler - so we decided why not?

I have to give major props to Leticia for her preparation for the class and for her ingenious tips. You need to follow her Facebook page, DIYDiva, and catch her Live videos - she has sooo many great tips!  She created spacers from chipboard to help with the layout and amazed everyone with how perfect and easily everything was aligned.  Being a numbers gal, I handled the registration and budget side of the class. We each love the design process and let one idea lead to another to come with the finished project.

The class was held last Saturday and we had a blast!  We had six of our teammates attending including with our fearless leader Patty.  She is featuring her sampler on her blog today so be sure to check it out here.  Everyone had fun creating their sampler and putting their special touches to make it their own. This was a very inspiring afternoon!

We took the theme of Product Coordination to heart! We made gift bags from the Pleased As Punch DSP to hold the extra goodies they would receive with their kits.  In addition to the gift bags we had decorated acetate boxes that held an ink spot and sponge also using the Pleased As Punch DSP and the Tulip builder punch.

Coordination is one of the many things that sets Stampin’ Up! apart from other papercrafting companies.  It is one of the things that appealed to me as a customer and led me to sign up as a demonstrator.  The reason I will always be a demonstrator is the friendships I make with other demonstrators and my customers.  I have found my tribe and want to be a part of this forever!

Would you like being part of a team of like minded crafty people?  If you have ever considered becoming a demonstrator, I would like to invite you to join my team.  You too will become part of the larger Luv2Stamp group as well as a member of my Stamp-n-Paper Junkies.  Joining during Sale-A-Bration has added freebies with your starter kit.  If you would like to get more information, feel free to ask me anything without any pressure from me. I love what I do and want to share that with you so you too can know what Stampin’ Up! has to offer.

You Can Stamp the Wood Butterfly Elements!

Did you know you can stamp and sponge on the wood butterfly elements?

I inked my stamp with Blackberry Bliss and then placed the butterfly on the stamp. I left it on for several seconds so the wood could absorb the ink. After that I sponged Highland Heather over the stamped image. I think darker colors would show up best.

This gives so many more options for using the butterflies!

Best of all, this card features three free Sale-A-Bration gifts - the Butterfly Elements, the Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack, and the gorgeous Botanical Butterfly designer series paper. These are my favorite SAB items!

Happy Stamping!

January Simple Stamping Challenge

January Simple Stamping Challenge

Stampin’ Up! is getting back to the heart of stamping by challenging us to create simple cards using mainly paper, ink and stamps. Each month there will be a challenge with specific guidelines to follow.  January’s challenge is to make a Valentine’s card using only paper, ink, and stamps.  A punch may be used, but it isn’t necessary.

I am going to be perfectly honest, while I love the look of simple clean cards, the idea of making is difficult for me. When I see all the supplies Stampin’ Up! carries, my mind starts spinning with ideas to use the pretty papers, embellishments and ribbon.  I rarely if ever see a stamp set and think to use only a stamped image on a card.

So, I cleared off my workspace, got out the Meant To Be stamp set and chose Flirty Flamingo, Lovely Lipstick and Petal Pink inks.  I love to make my own DSP so I took the three smallest heart stamps and they made a sweet fun patterned paper for my card. The card came together quickly and I was pleasantly surprised that I could make a cute card without a lot of fuss!

Now I challenge you to participate in the January #simplestamping challenge!  I would love to see what you make so message me a with a photo of your simple Valentine’s card!!

Happy Stamping!

Card Recipe

Cut List:
  • Flirty Flamingo - 8.5” x 5.5”, scored at 4.25” in the 8.5” side; 2” x 3” for sentiment
  • Whisper White - 4” x 5.25”
  • Lovely Lipstick - .5” x 5.25”

Stamping:

Starting with the largest of the 3, randomly stamp the heart on the Whisper White card front. Be sure to angle the heart in different directions and stamp some off the edge of the card front. This will give an organic look. To keep spacing between the images looking right, start with the largest image first and work down to the smallest. I used Flirty Flamingo for the largest heart - I love the striped detail of this heart! Using Lovely Lipstick ink, I followed the same process to stamp the heart with the doodles. I used Petal Pink to stamp the smallest heart. I stamped the sentiment in Lovely Lipstick on the 2 x 3 Flirty Flamingo cardstock and then punched that out using the Pretty Label Punch. I added a heart in Flirty Flamingo on each side of the sentiment to finish the sentiment label.

Assembly:

Adhere the .5 x 5.25 strip of Lovely Lipstick so that it divides the stamped card front in half horizontally.  Adhere the sentiment centered on the Lovely Lip Stick strip.  And you are done!

Spectrum Pad in Fall Cards

Fall is my favorite season!  When I saw the Spectrum pad in the annual catalog, I knew I had to have it to make fall cards. I inked my pad with Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Mossy Meadow, Blackberry Bliss, and Cajun Craze. As you can see, I went a little crazy stamping all sorts of leaves!! It was a lot of fun to mix and match stamps from different sets. In the samples below, I used the limited-edition Color Your Season bundle, Rooted in Nature bundle and Color Seasons stamps and coordinating dies.
Card #1

I wanted to make my own DSP using the Rainbow Spectrum Pad, but it didn't turn out as planned. My idea was to use the diamond mask to stamp onto paper which didn't work. When I stamped the pad over the mask, nothing showed on the card stock. I suspect that the mask was too thick for the felt pad to reach the paper. Not to be discouraged, I misted the mask and then laid the card stock onto the mask to create this lattice look DSP. Misting the mask really helped the inks to blend out on the paper. I just love happy accidents! I stamped the leaf cluster in the Blended Seasons stamp set randomly onto Whisper White card stock for the top portion of the card. I misted the solid leaves before stamping them. The detailed leaves and accents were tapped directed onto the Spectrum Pad. I used my Stampin' Blends to color the rhinestones and added some gold thread to give the card some bling.

 Card #2

This card came together quickly! I used the leaf cluster from the Rooted in Nature set. Stamping the leaves was super easy. I just picked different parts of the Rainbow Spectrum Pad to be sure to have a variety of color. To form the wreath, I used the two largest circle dies and made a ring to adhere the leaves. I love the way the long sentiment showcases the color range in the ink pad!

Card #3

The first thing that I did after inking my Spectrum pad was putting direct to paper and dragging it across to make stripes. I like the end result, but it took several passes to cover! I think glossy or shimmery white paper would work better and use less ink. When stamping some of the leaves, I misted the stamp after inking it to help blend the color. I like the effect when I was able to get a super fine mist which keeps the detail of the stamp while allowing the colors to blend more. I used the speckle stamp from the Waterfront set to emboss gold specks on the leaves. It is hard to see in the picture, but I layered vellum, then a gold strip, and then tied these with twine and topped it with the gold embossed sentiment. To tie the gold together, I matted the card with gold foil. The card was still missing something, so I added the little flourish accents from the new Stitched Seasons dies. So far, this card is my favorite using the Spectrum Pad. Please leave me a comment below to tell me which is your favorite!

Card #4

This card did not turn out as I envisioned. It is the result of a lot of trial and error. The Rooted in Nature stamp set is one of my favorites in the new catalog. It is the whole reason that I inked my Rainbow Spectrum Pad with fall colors. The trees were lovely stamped in autumn colors. I wanted a trifold card that revealed a forest changing color. I used the Stitched Seasons large die to frame my forest. I used the Waterfront stamp set to ground my trees and painted a Balmy Blue wash for sky. To create depth, I stamped off some trees in the distance. Then I layered the die cut images over this by gluing two directly on the card and then popping the center tree on Dimensionals. The card opens upward and then down for the trifold effect. I used the trunk on the center tree to keep the frame in place. It worked perfectly. My issue was the frame took so much card stock that my card was not functioning the way I wanted. So, I cut it down and attached it to another base and made a stand so the card will stay upright when closed. It was definitely a challenge, but all in all it didn't turn out too bad!
