I love making Halloween treats for friends and family. This year I decided to do some using our Peekaboo Treat Bags. These bags are the perfect size for small candy treats or even a homemade cookie!

The Bewitching Bundle is sooo cute I knew I had to use it! I created two designs one for the craft bags and one for the white bags. It is so fun to change up the colors can make the design look different!

To create my tags, I cut a strip of DSP 1 7/8” x 4”. For the craft bags, I used the small So Saffron gingham print from the Gingham
Cottage DSP and for the white bag I used the black polka dot from the Black & White Designs DSP. To make the tag top, I used the Label Me Lovely punch. I turned the punch over and fed one end of the DSP into the punch making sure to center the strip and punched.

The hats, legs and the spider are stamped with Memento ink using the Stamparatus. Being able to stamp the images multiple times gives a deep, crisp black image. The striped stockings are colored with Pumpkin Pie Dark, Highland Heather Dark and Granny Apple Green Light blends. The buckles on the boots are colored in So Saffron Dark.

Isn’t the Glitter Washi amazing? I wanted to make some glitter stars and a hat band with the them. The challenge was the washi tape was a tad too narrow for the band and largest star. To fix this, I taped two strips of the washi to a strip of white card stock and the look was seamless. I punched a band in Pumpkin Pie Glitter and then did stars in all four colors.

I fussy cut the witches boots and adhered that to hat using liquid glue. I glued the hat bands to the hats and attached a star on each one with a glue dot. The witches are popped up on the tags with dimensionals. I attached the tag to the bag with liquid glue. I sprinkled some stars around the tag and the treat bag using glue dots and dimensionals. I used the Alphabest bundle to make the Boo! Sentiment at the bottom of each bag.

The tags needed bows but I wanted ribbon in coordinating colors. Blends to the rescue!! I used the Pumpkin Pie Dark color the 1/4” crinkled seam binding and the Highland Heather Dark to color the white Glittered Organdy Ribbon. Love that I can make everything match with a little bit of coloring!!

Luv 2 Stamp Group Blog Hop March 2021

I love that our theme does not involve an occasion that you would normally associate with card making or paper crafting.  In fact, if I am completely honest, I was kind of stumped on what project I would make. When I think of Earth Day, I think of things on a global scale and not really tied to my craft in any way.  Then one day I was switching out some of the cards I had displayed on my kitchen buffet and it hit me!

Being a sentimental person at heart, I cannot bring myself to throw away any of the lovely handmade cards that I receive.  With the best of intentions, I have started collecting and sorting these cards into boxes by occasion planning to use them on scrapbook layouts.  Confession time – I have not actually done that yet.  All the cards are still sitting in the boxes, the pictures are still on my PC and I have several empty albums!  As I was putting away a lovely card from Patty Bennett, the leader of our Luv2Stamp group and my friend, I realized I could make a page featuring her beautiful card and that it would be the subject for my blog post!

In a small way, recycling the card rather than throwing it out, is a way to be a good steward of the earth.  I realize that this is not an action that will have significant impact, but it is something.  Not only can I reduce and reuse by incorporating the card into a layout, I can also impart some knowledge about gardening and the importance of caring for soil.  You see I am planning to use this layout to document a gardening project with my niece when she visits me this summer.

Gardening was a passion of my grandmother’s and she passed that onto my mom and to me too.  I would spend hours admiring her beautiful flower beds as child.  My grandma taught me all about gardening, composting, and the importance of good soil.  We always had fresh produce all summer from her garden and there is nothing better than home grown food!  I taught my children some of the things she taught me and I want to do the same with my niece.

Patty’s card is simply gorgeous!  She used the beautiful Hydrangea Hill suite to create this card for me.  It is the perfect choice to create a spread about gardening as I am planning to replace a hydrangea that I lost last year!  I used her card as inspiration for the rest of the layout.  The clusters of hydrangea flowers are cascading over the pages to frame the photo mats and journaling spot.  The pinks, purples and blues in this paper are lovely and make the perfect complement to the green background.  My grandmother was especially enamored of blue hydrangeas.  I was amazed when she told me that you had to have the right nutrients in the soil for blue flowers.  I thought dirt was just dirt!  She told me for hydrangeas to be blue the soil had to be acidic and if there was too much alkali in the soil, the flowers would be pink.

My niece is going to be so excited to plant such beautiful flowers.  She will start kindergarten in the fall and I think this is the perfect age for her to start learning about gardening, protecting the earth and preserving family traditions.  The sentiment on the card is perfect too – Miss Mia is capable of amazing things!

Luv 2 Stamp Blog Hop February 2021

Welcome to the Luv 2 Stamp Group’s 2021 Blog Hop! We are excited to share projects with you this year and hope to inspire you to create beautiful new projects. Each month we will have a different theme based on the next month’s celebrations using Stampin’ Up! products.

The minute that I heard the theme for this month, I knew that I wanted to use the Hey Girlfriend stamp set. The style the images are drawn in is perfect for women of all ages. The sentiments convey love, support and strength. It was a must have set for me and will always be in my collection.

The images are great for coloring with blends, one of my favorite techniques to use. My original plan was to color the dress using the Rococo Rose blends, but as I was choosing the DSP for the card, I was inspired to stamp on the DSP to have a patterned design for the dress. I used StazOn black ink to stamp the image on the DSP and then fussy cut the dress and glued it onto the image. One trick I like to use is to color the cut edge of the image using a Basic Black Stampin Write Marker.  Doing this makes the edges of the fussy cut image black so that when it is glued to the stamped image, the white paper core does not show. When you glue this to the stamped image, it has a seamless look!

The rest of the coloring was quick and easy. I stamped the image onto a piece of Basic White cardstock using Momento ink. I used the Rococo Rose blends for her shoes, headband, and the belt on the dress. I used the Cinnamon Cider blends to color her hair, coloring some strands in light and others in dark to create a natural highlighted look. Her eyes were colored with the Soft Suede blends. To give them a more natural look, I used the light Soft Suede as a base and then used dark Soft Suede on the lower right to add a bit of depth. For her skin, I used the Ivory blend.

Sale-A-Bration is my favorite time of year – who doesn’t love FREE stamps and paper? Every year Stampin’ Up! offers the most amazing DSP during SAB and this year is no exception. I love every one of the papers! The Paper Blooms DSP goes so well with the Hey Girlfriend stamp set. The floral images are fresh, pretty and coordinate beautifully with the images and fonts. If you know me, you know that I love stripes and this striped pattern was no exception. I love how well it goes with the floral pattern that I chose. I wanted to carry the floral pattern of the dress to create accents for the card. The DSP has a sheet with the watercolor circles that begged to be die cut with the Perennial Petals dies to make the flowers that frame the oval. The Opal Rounds are perfect flower centers and pick up all the colors in the DSP. The scalloped oval gives just the right feminine touch to make the lady pop.

There are so many options to use the Hey Girlfriend Stamp Set with the Perennial Petals dies and when you get both, you can choose the Paper Blooms DSP giving you even more creative ways to let the women in your life know you care!

Celebrating Women is something that I think we should all do more often! Not just for birthdays or special occasions, but on any random day too. The sentiments in this set are perfect for telling women that they are amazing and that they have your support and love. This card is on its way to a unique, creative and loving woman that truly is one tough act to follow!
